Hemoroids Symptoms And OccurrenceHemoroids Symptoms The only sign you may notice from internal hemoroids is bright red blood on the toilet paper or in the toilet bowl. Sometimes, however, these veins stretch, and may even fall down (prolapse) through the anus to outside the body (protruding hemoroids). When this happens, the vein may become irritated and painful. Veins around the anus causes problems when thrombus form in them, and they become large and painful. (Thrombosed external hemoroids.) The symptoms are the following: bleeding and a tender lump on the edge of the anus. Bleeding begins when inflated veins are scratched or broken by straining or rubbing. Patients with external hemoroids feel itching at the anus too. This might result from draining mucus and irritation caused by too much rubbing or cleaning of the anus. Hemoroids Occurrence Do hemoroids happen often? Hemorrhoidal problems are very common in both men and in women. Approximately by the age of 50 half of people have hemoroids to some extent. A lot of people have bleeding from hemoroids from time to time, but most often it is not serious. Pregnancy may be one of the reasons for women to start having problems with hemoroids. The pressure of the fetus in the abdomen added to hormonal changes may force hemorrhoidal veins to inflate. Great pressure is placed on these veins during delivery. Such hemoroids are a temporary problem, for most women.
